DESCRIPTION: This new cultivar from Japan was selected for its outstanding compact habit and early fruiting age. Delicate pink flowers in spring give way to beautiful lavender-purple berries produced along the stems in late summer. ëIssai' (which means "Fruiting at a young age" in Japanese) will perform best in full sun to partial shade. Crown hardy in zone 4, where it will reliably grow back to 4' and flower and fruit. Rarely to never fed on by Japanese beetles.
