DESCRIPTION: The attributes of this slow growing native tree have given rise to many common names. The wood is very hard and heavy (Ironwood) and the handsome blue-gray bark is fluted with long sinewy ridges (Musclewood) that is particularly interesting during the winter. 2004 Plant of Merit.
