Chester is a thornless and semi-erect variety of blackberry that was developed by the USDA in 1985. Medium to large berries are deep black, round and very sweet. This is a high quality and high yielding variety and will not soften or lose its color in hot weather. Reputedly an excellent variety for making blackberry wine. Late ripening. (Zone 5-8)
